Is it worth it?

Is it worth doing all the things that we do in society like working and going to school? I can just bet if we had the option to do as we will many of us would not chose to go work or even continue our education after high school. I think that many of just do things to have equal or better than what I parents have. I feel that paying for college is just another way for the rich to get richer being that we attended k-12 for free no money out of our parents pockets but yet we have to pay to go to these university. I feel like that I just got a free 12 year trial of school and clicked yes to continue but it with a price. I always felt like I want more from life anyways try to think of different ways to get to that point of contentment of live. I want to be living well and doing well as philosopher Aristotle would say, however living in today's society it feel like majority of us will never get there. I feel like today's workforce is modernize enslavement of the middle class people and I am not just talking about a specific race of people, but all races. We are so use to buying in to the image of what's going on around us that we lost focus that we are getting poorer and the rich is getting richer. It really don't make sense how much profit that one or a group of superior people are making off of us. Not only are we working for these companies that have ample of currency, but we are also putting that money we make back into the their hands. So it is a cycle that will continue to go on. A system that made just for the richest of people to have control over us a population. Is it worth it for all the things we do to keep society running to put so much time and energy into something and get so little back?

  1. Is it worth it? Maybe I’m one of the few, but I do think it’s worth it. When I say “it,” I mean go to school and work. If I was born into a wealthy family or married into a wealthy family and didn’t have to work or go to school, I still would. I enjoy learning and enjoy going to work and helping other people. Yes, a break is great now and then, but I think most people cannot handle too long of a vacation. Maybe that’s just my type-a, stubborn personality but I don’t get joy out of having to rely on someone else and money that I didn’t earn. To me, it’s much more than a job or school. My job gives me the satisfaction of helping others (in a pretty minute way, but still helping.) School feeds my thirst for knowledge.

And while I’m talking about school, it makes me think of how Dr. J. said she doesn’t like to give grades. I really don’t like to worry about grades. It would be so much easier and more beneficial if I could participate in a class, whether through homework or in class participation without worrying how it’s going to affect my grade.

So to answer your question, to me (and I fully expect this to not apply to everyone) it is worth it. Not every part of it is worth it, but for the most part going to school and working betters me as a person and is worth it.

  2. What you said made so much sense, the idea that education has been engraved in our heads as something that MUST be done is something that most people that are at a higher education would agree on. What everyone ultimately wants is to make it to the top, or am I wrong?

  3. Personally, Education is a must factor in my life. Every time that I learn something new, being in a class setting or not, I get a sense of internal bliss. With that said, I do not believe that everyone else has to have the same need for education. There are people that find that type of happiness in other parts of their lives, charity for example.

Is it worth it to me? Yes, very much so. Although, I do believe that I would enjoy being educated a little bit more, if we did not have such a regulated jail like classroom setting.
