Happiness

What is complete happiness Aristotle would say that it is living well, doing well and doing good things.Which is true living comfortably and being at peace with yourself gives you a sense or feeling of happiness because you know you are okay.  Also by being a good person and doing good things it also brings happiness to us.  Socrates says doing good things=being a good person and that by doing unjust things means you are a unjust person with a disorderly soul. I agree with both but only to a certain extent. What if a unjust person changes and starts to do just things and becomes a good person do you judge them how they are now or by their past choices? Or what if some people only do unjust things because it makes them happy, their joy is in causing havoc and chaos. There are some people who do unjust things for just reasons. Does this make them unjust people or there soul is in disorder?  I do not think so, I think everyone has something that makes them really acquire true happiness inside and out.

  1. Yes, Aristole would say those things but happiness doesn't always come with living well, doing good things, and doing well. I really disagree about how Aristole feels about happiness . You could be living well, doing well, and doing good things for the people but that does not bring happiness within you. You could have everything that you want, do everything that you need but sometimes you still are not happy. You could be just as miserable because you don't have that person there that you want to share all those things with. Happiness doesn't always come with the finest things, sometimes we as people need happiness from that next person. If an unjust person became just we would not judge them on how they are now. We might say yes he has made a great change but we will always bring up how that person use to be. us as people will always see the unjust side of things. a person can make a tremendous change on how they use to be but that will never change the way we see things.

  2. I agree with your last statement complete everyone has something that makes them acquire true happiness. I think happiness comes from how people set their goals and how content they with their goals. Say there are two brothers, one's goal in life is to be a farm where the other wants to become a rich and powerful CEO. Also, say that they both became what they wanted to become, and that they both have a "just" soul and do good. The farmer was content with the goal he set in life but even though the other brother became exactly what he wanted to, he was not content with his life. I think this is because people sometime set their goal in life too high and end up chasing after their goal. Because of this their live never lives up to their expirations. In conclusion the one thing that makes people happy is whither or not they are content.

  3. Happiness. like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. I find that my happiness comes from some unjust means but I feel i do them for just reasons. I often find myself arguing people online who I deem ignorant , showing how misguided they really are. By doing so, I feel good. I know that the means are unjust but in my own mind, i am doing myself and the world a favor by exposing them. However, I treat everyone else i meet with as much respect as I want them to show me. Knowing this, would you call me unjust? Is my soul disorderly? In my eyes, i am perfectly fine.
