Noble and slavish

Neitzsche describes the noble man as a person in power.  He talks about the nobles in a way that they are people who are out going, and doing things in different ways,  not being normal or of the usual go with the flow group.  The slavish man is described in my opinion a person that just goes with the flow,  and just wants to get by in life.  They are people that are the normal everyday person.  What Neitzsche wants to do is eradicate those people that will say no first,  and not take the risk.  He wants people to be powerful,  and to do things that people would call  not normal,  he thinks that we should go about being active and adventurous rather than be cowardous.

  2. Yes, He also wants human beings to be more independent and create their own principles of morality instead of living by someone else's. He does want them to be more outgoing on free and may be even happier.

  3. I think his purpose was also to get people to start questioning the ways of what we know as morality. In my opinion I think his theory makes a lot of sense, I mean a great amount of people go with the "don't do this" type of morality. In a way we are slaves of some morals laws that we do not dare to question. Religion, politics, and social norms are good examples of establishments that have set the foundation to morality; which impose upon us the things we are not ought to do. When Nietzsche explains that the noble is strong because he does not follow the status quo, it made me realize that we are in fact a product of a slavish society that makes weaknesses appear as strengths.

  4. I think the noble man's way of thinking allows you to be less adventurous. The noble valuation is "yes-saying". So, instead of saying what you should not do they tell you what you should do. If you are doing anything other than what you should be doing, you are not right. I think of the nobleman's way as being in a cage and being told all the exact properties and dimensions of the cage. I think the slave's way of thinking is like being able to learn everything about the cage for yourself. All you really need to know is that you are in a cage. In my life at least I feel as though I have gotten a combination of yes and no saying. Perhaps societies foundations are based "don't do this" but it still leaves room for you to do something.

  5. I totally agree with Neitzsche in the fact that we should be active and adventurous rather than cowardly. With that said, I also believe that people have different levels of those qualities. I am a very active person that will always take adventure over routine but there are others that by simply doing something out of the ordinary can be consider adventurous. One could also discuss the meaning of bravery. When It comes to people's actions, I find that being brave will be judged on individual bases and compared to previous actions a person might have conducted. All in all, there are different levels for evry characteristic that a person might hold. Who is to define those characteristics that affects us all?
